Active Sport Area Manager:
Hi there, I’m Chris Rowley the Area Manager of Active Sport High Wycombe.
Sport and Physical Activity have always been a huge part of my life from growing up in a very sporty family. When I was younger I was fortunate to have been given the opportunity to try all kinds of sports ranging from skiing to swimming. However, I mainly focused on football, cricket and Judo, with the latter being the sport that I excelled in the most becoming a junior national championship winner and being part of the Great British Elite performance pathway.
After finishing school and taking a year out to travel the world, I studied to become a PE teacher at Leeds Metropolitan University. I was really fortunate to work in a role that I was passionate about for over 11 years, teaching across London, the South East, India and New Zealand covering all areas of provision from Primary School, through Secondary school and SEND. I love teaching sport and PE and having the opportunity to help young people find a passion for an active lifestyle that suits them in whatever form it takes.
After leaving teaching I had the amazing opportunity to work with the England and Wales Cricket Board for 5 years helping to develop their flagship junior programmes 'All Stars Cricket' and 'Dynamos Cricket'. This has been massively rewarding helping to introduce 100s of thousands of children to the game of cricket in a fun, safe and exciting way.
Taking the ethos and skills that I have learnt and developed over the last 16 years working within the sector, I wanted to provide further access to high quality, fun and inclusive activities for children across the High Wycombe area. From an early age I was very fortunate to have experienced a variety of sport and develop a passion for physical activity so the opportunity to offer this across the local area is hugely important to me.
